Ebook Central
Employees of the AIP have access to e-books via the ProQuest Ebook Central platform (EBC).
All books can be read free of charge for 5 minutes per day (daily reset) and, if required, can be suggested to the library for purchase or loan relatively easily.
Registration
You need an EBC-account to use Ebook Central. The only requirements are an email account at AIP and a library account. With these conditions fulfilled you can request access via the "Neues Konto" (New Account) button. After registration, we will activate your account as soon as possible.
For access outside the AIP campus, you do not need a VPN connection , your user account is sufficient for identification.

Privacy notice: Since ProQuest Ebook Central is an external service, your name and institutional email address will be shared with ProQuest when you create an account.
The language can be changed via the menu "Einstellungen -> Sprache", but only after you have logged in with your account.
Usage
Ebook Central is in general free to use with some restrictions. All titles are available for 5 minutes of free online reading. Titles already purchased from the library can immediately be read online or downloaded without any limitations.
If you are interested in an e-book that we have not yet purchased, you can suggest it to us via a form for purchase or also as a loan.
We will review and process your requests and contact you as soon as possible.
E-books purchased from the library can be accessed depending on the selected license model (for details see usage models).
Software and DRM
For the complete download of books and reading on e.g. mobile devices, the installation of the software Adobe Digital Editions is usually required. This controls the digital rights management and monitors the attributed usage time of the downloads.
The software is available for Windows and Macintosh computers as well as Android and Apple smartphones. A dedicated Linux version is currently not available, a workaround using emulators like WINE is possible, but we recommend using the chapter download here instead, or reading via the browser.
