As of April 2, 2025, the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics will introduce a new regulation on article length. From this date, the publication of a paper will only be free of charge as long as the article has no more than 12 pages of text and 8 pages of appendix. Each additional page will cost 150 €. Further information on the new page limit can be found on this page: https://www.aanda.org/2025-press-releases/3045-shaping-a-sustainable-future-for-a-a-new-policy-on-paper-length
In addition, the AIP has been part of the new Springer Nature consortium since 2025, which covers Nature-branded journals that are not part of the DEAL Springer agreement (in which the AIP does not currently participate). This agreement provides access to 66 journals, including Nature Astronomy and Nature Physics, as well as the opportunity for corresponding authors to publish open access (CC-BY) free of charge in these journals (excluding review journals). More information as well as a title list can be found on the library website: https://www.aip.de/en/infrastructure/library/publizieren/publishing/transformative-contracts-and-publication-agreements/
As always, the library team will be happy to answer any questions.
