Technical Section

Astrophysical research places the highest technical demands on scientific instrumentation. Technical Section offers support in the development, construction, production, integration, verification, but also in the maintenance and improvement of predominantly earth-bound focal instruments as well as robotic telescopes. The tasks of the section also include the maintenance of historical instruments.

Technical Section is organised into four competence groups. For the realisation of instrumentation projects, employees work together in flexible, interdisciplinary teams with complementary competences.

The Technical Section is realising an infrastructure project in accordance with the Innovation in Brandenburg (IIB) guidelines starting in 2025.
