Jürgen Staude has been working at the AIP and the predecessor Astrophysical Institutes at Potsdam starting in 1965, with emphasis on solar research. In 1990 he became head of the Optical Solar Physics Group (Solar Observatory 'Einstein Tower'), in 1995 head of the Section 'Physics of the Sun', and Professor of Astrophysics at the Potsdam and Berlin Universities. Since his retirement in 2005 he is guest investigator at the AIP.
