Mariana Pouseiro Júlio
I am a doctoral candidate at AIP in the Dwarf Galaxies and the Galactic Halo section since June 2022. My research interests are related to the challenges between small-scale and the standard cosmological model, ΛCDM. As a member of the Cosmic Choreographies project research group led by Dr. Marcel Pawlowski, I’m studying the group infall of dwarf galaxies in the Local Group, using cosmological simulations and observational data.
I completed both my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Portugal at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. During my Bachelor’s degree in Physics, I started to study the dark matter content of ultra-faint dwarfs. After that, my Master’s thesis was focused on the core-cusp problem, where I explored the dark matter density profiles of ultra-faint dwarfs using Jeans analysis and alternative dark matter models to the standard paradigm.
