Dr. Sergey Khoperskov
My long-standing scientific interest is galaxy dynamics and evolution, and the main instrument of my research is N-body/hydrodynamical modeling. I have been working on simulations of galactic disks for the purpose of interpreting, discovering, and testing theories of dynamical and secular processes in galaxies, as well as of understanding galactic star formation at different spatial scales.
In the last years, I have been working on two complementary aspects: on the one side, I have developed new Milky Way models necessary to interpret existing observational data and suggest new ideas and scenarios about the chemo-dynamical evolution of the Milky Way stellar populations; on the other side I have put a lot to effort in the exploration of Gaia data releases combined with spectroscopic data from APOGEE, Galah and LAMOST.
