The LBT is a telescope for the optical and infrared wavelength range which has two 8.4m diameter main mirrors on the same optical mount which eventually will be coupled interferometrically to produce images with a spatial resolution ten times better than that of the Hubble Space Telescope.
The picture shows the Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) in the factory of Ansaldo Energia in Milano, Italy, where it has been assembled.

The off-axis stage unit in the lab at the AIP, Mar 20, 2003. The flexure is being measured with our 3D measurement machine. The maschine reproduces position to about 1 micron accuracy. Changing the load and the direction of the load on the upper stage and measuring the position of three points on the stage as well as two reference points close to the table surface, we can measure the flexure in 3D of the unit. The off-axis unit has been design in-house and it has been manufactured by Feinmess Dresden.

The LUCIFER dummy being fitted on the AGW outer structure in the AIP integration hall on Jul 15, 2003. The 2 tons of weights which will simulate the mass of the LUCIFER instrument can be seen on the floor in the background to the left. Above the unit the telescope simulator can be seen. Here the unit will be tested under realistic gravity conditions to check its mechanical stability. The LUCIFER dummy was build by KARK Maschinenbau Brandenburg.
